BioSafe Systems is a family-owned manufacturer of biodegradable crop protection, sanitation and water treatment and disease control products utilizing reduced-risk chemistries that do not negatively impact the health and safety of people and the environment.
It is one of the country’s largest manufacturers of peroxyacetic acid (PAA) and has pioneered many applications in agriculture, horticulture, postharvest/food safety, aquatics, turf and commercial/industrial sanitation.
Tell us a bit about your recent accomplishments.
This year, BioSafe Systems accomplished a smooth transition of power when Lauren Crane — our late founder, Rob Larose’s daughter — stepped into her new role as CEO and president.
Amidst this transition, BioSafe achieved three ISO certifications with National Quality Assurance (NQA), patented our Restorative Soils Program, opened our Innovation Center hosting our all-female lab team, launched a marketing campaign celebrating our 25th anniversary and is currently seeking certification as a women-owned business with the state.
What are your family values and how do they contribute to your business success?
The core of Rob Larose’s character was motivated by taking care of people, and that instinct governs the company’s standards professionally and personally.
The general rule is family comes first. We know it’s best to lead with understanding and grace, be honest in communication and honor your commitments.
The important overlap between the company’s mission and the follow-through is the value placed on protecting and supporting our people whether they are customers, community members or employees.
Where do you see your business in the next five years?
In the next five years, I see us successfully launching our Restorative Soils Program, which started with my father Rob; developing new products he conceptualized; and maintaining our position as a major player in the agriculture disinfectants market.
What are your guiding business principles?
Family-centric values like honesty and respect are the foundation of our company and are reinforced by our work ethic for creating value and promoting a profitable business.
Being an innovative company means constantly looking for opportunities to learn and adapt as the market and world change. We strive for efficacy and compliance to build trust with our customers and understand their perceptions and expectations.
