Susan Huntington

Susan Huntington is a partner at law firm Day Pitney, where she leads the healthcare practice as chair.

Her legal career has been focused on health law. In addition to being an attorney, Huntington is a certified physician assistant, which gives her unique insights into the general clinical environment and challenges and opportunities in the healthcare industry.

Huntington represents healthcare providers with business and regulatory matters, such as forming accountable care organizations (ACOs) and clinical integration networks. Her clients have included hospitals and large physician groups.

She provided legal assistance for the formation of three Medicare shared savings program ACOs, including two national ACOs, a statewide clinically integrated network and multiple ACO-like arrangements with third-party payers.

Huntington represents clients in contract negotiations with insurers, and provides advice on M&A activity to ensure deals comply with healthcare regulations. She also counsels on privacy regulations and data breaches.

During her career, Huntington has served as in-house counsel at Aetna and as deputy general counsel at Hartford HealthCare.

She worked for more than a decade at an international insurance company as its healthcare practice leader and senior vice president.

Huntington also frequently writes about healthcare and legal matters, and is an author and editor of Day Pitney’s healthcare quarterly newsletter C.H.A.T., which stands for cybersecurity, healthcare and technology.

Huntington has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut Medical School.
