Traver IDC provides electrical and mechanical services to the industrial marketplace, including motor repair, electrical contracting, electrical/mechanical supplies, electrical/mechanical engineering and energy conservation services.
Traver IDC has been in business for 85 years, with ownership and leadership shifting over the years from Alfred M. Traver Sr., to Alfred M. Traver Jr., to Jack Traver Sr., and currently to Jack Traver Jr.
Tell us about your recent accomplishments.
In 2021, Traver Electric Motor Co. Inc. was approved as an EASA Accredited Service Center by the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA). The company is the only accredited service center to date in New England, New York and New Jersey.
In 2022, Traver IDC acquired Abel Transmission Inc. in Bristol to expand the power transmission products and product lines available to Connecticut manufacturers.
What are your family values and how do they contribute to your business success?
Traver IDC’s values include: having sincere compassion for our families, customers and community; embracing knowledge, creativity and change; and being dedicated to going the extra mile and being there when needed.
Customers rely on Traver IDC’s services, including the emergency services provided after hours when needed. Being community-focused, Traver IDC is a large contributor to the United Way of Greater Waterbury.
Jack is also currently the vice chairman of public policy for the Waterbury Regional Chamber, and Nancy Traver is the president of the Smaller Manufacturers Association of CT and past chair of the United Way of Greater Waterbury.
Where do you see your business in the next five years?
Traver IDC continues to be on a growth trajectory and is looking to add up to six employees in the near future. The opportunities to service manufacturers in Connecticut with both electrical and mechanical services are manyfold, with new customers being added regularly.
Do you have a business succession plan?
Brandon Traver and Jillian Traver-Ball, fourth-generation operations manager and marketing manager, are both leading alongside their father, Jack, and look forward to the future of the company.
