A 46-room inn in Portland and a neighboring two-bedroom house recently sold for $2.9 million.
In a deed recorded Aug. 8, Brewster, New York-based Solano Inn LLC sold the three-building motel property and the neighboring house to South Glastonbury-based Lord Hanuman LLC.
The buyer’s principal is Krunal Patel, of South Glastonbury. .
The 3.2-acre property at 1503 Portland Cobalt Road hosts three hospitality buildings dating from 1951 to 1988 and totaling 27,046 square feet. The neighboring 1-acre property at 1489 Portland Cobalt Road hosts a 1,300-square-foot house built in 1943.
Patel, who operates a third-party retailer ecommerce business, said he was attracted to the Portland property because of recent renovations undertaken by the previous owner. That includes new roofing, as well as upgraded plumbing and electrical systems, and updates to rooms, Patel said.
Patel said he is planning new landscaping to match the rehabbed buildings. For now, he plans to continue operations under the familiar Solano Inn brand, but will rebrand in about eight months. He also hopes to forge stronger connections with area attractions.
"We want to make sure guests recognize Portland as a city in Connecticut and not Oregon," Patel joked.
