A Vernon auto shop owner is planning to renovate an old gas station on Hartford Turnpike into a used car dealership and general repair shop.
Edward Johansen, principal of Vernon-based SECK Enterprises LLC, is seeking a special permit and site plan approval to transform property at 985 Hartford Turnpike, Route 30.
Johansen bought the 6.5-acre property in February 2002 for $250,000 from the estate of Joseph Bielecki.
The property is zoned Industrial, and the special permit is required for the auto repairs aspect of the plan.
Repairs will only apply to service and preparation work on vehicles that are sold from the dealership, according to the application.
The shop would have eight parking spaces for employees and customers, and 28 spaces for cars that are listed for sale.
The 2,000-square-foot gas station shop was built in 1948.
Another 1-story residential building on the property is not part of the renovation project.
If approved by the Vernon Planning and Zoning Commission, construction would start in March and be completed by September.
