Construction is underway on a 91-unit supportive housing project in Farmington, with an opening set for June 2026.

Favarh, an organization that provides support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is developing the project with The Metro Realty Group, a developer based in Farmington.

The site of the integrated, supportive housing project is 1600 New Britain Ave., near the Route 6 intersection.

The complex will feature 90 apartments for people across various income levels and abilities. There will be 32 one-bedroom apartments and 58 two-bedroom townhouses.

Twenty apartments, including 17 one-bedroom and three two-bedroom units, will be set aside for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Favarh staff will provide on-site support to help them live independently.

"We are thrilled to embark on this new project in Farmington, which represents another milestone in our ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive community for all," said Stephen Morris, executive director of Favarh.

Funding for the affordable housing project was provided by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority and Department of Housing.

The project will create several management-level jobs at Favarh, along with dozens of support roles. Job openings for the new facility are posted at favarh.org/careers.

Favarh's other supportive housing complexes in Connecticut are: 80 South Road of Farmington; Bear Woods Apartments of Canton; Lavender Field Apartments of Bloomfield; and Ojakian Commons of Simsbury. They are all integrated and serve people with and without disabilities.

Canton-based Favarh, founded in 1958, is also known as The Arc of the Farmington Valley. It is the local chapter of The Arc, a nationwide, community-based organization for people with intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities.
