AdvanceCT, the state’s nonprofit economic development organization, has launched a Certified Sites Program, which provides information about greenfield sites zoned for industrial use to corporate investors.
The Certified Sites Program aggregates and catalogues certified sites, which have undergone a pre-qualification process to determine how ready they are for development.
The sites have undergone ownership, infrastructure and zoning analysis, as well as other factors reviewed by an independent advisory committee of state and local economic development stakeholders, including utility companies and state agencies.
“Connecticut’s Certified Sites Program is going to be a game-changer for companies looking to establish an operation in our state,” said John Bourdeaux, president and CEO of AdvanceCT. “It eliminates the guesswork on any site in the program, increasing the velocity of the site selection process.”
The certified sites are classified as either “shovel ready” or “investment ready.”
Shovel ready means a property has the approvals and documented due diligence to begin site development.
Investment ready means a site is deemed ready for development, but additional infrastructure improvements may be required.
