The West Hartford African American Social and Cultural Organization (WHAASCO) will hold the first West Hartford Black Business Expo on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the conference center in Town Hall at 50 South Main St.
The event, themed "Empowering Through Diversity," is intended to honor and promote the achievements of Black-owned businesses in town.
According to an email about the event, which has been organized in partnership with the town, the expo “is not just about business; it's about community empowerment and economic impact.”
The group said it provides a platform for Black-owned businesses to showcase their products and services, and seeks to “amplify the diverse talents and foster collaboration among entrepreneurs” in town.
The expo is free and open to the public, who will have an opportunity to buy food, products and services from the 20 participating businesses. Music will be provided by DJ B Davis.
WHAASCO says its mission is to foster “fair and equitable participation for people of the Black/African diaspora in the civic, political, economic, educational and cultural activities” within West Hartford. For more information, including a list of participating businesses, visit bit.ly/whbbe24.
