More than a half century after leaving for Tennessee, doorknobs and locks maker Yale Locks & Hardware is returning to Connecticut, at a new Berlin location.
Yale Locks had moved to Lenoir City, Tenn. more than 50 years ago but said Thursday it decided to return to the state, at 225 Episcopal Road.
The company will bring 160 new manufacturing jobs when it completes the transition. The company makes door hardware and locks, including exit devices, door closers, and key systems. Yale is a subsidiary of Swedish manufacturing conglomerate Assa Abloy.
Yale will celebrate its return to Connecticut on Wednesday with state and company officials, along with a guided tour of the firm's new center of excellence.
