Alexion to celebrate New Haven move

On Monday, Feb. 29, Alexion Pharmaceuticals will celebrate its official return to New Haven and the opening of its new global headquarters with a building dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Alexion is moving its headquarters from suburban Cheshire to downtown New Haven at 100 College St. Its move comes with the help of as much as $51 million in state assistance.

The company hires from both within and outside of Connecticut.

Asked about the company's commitment to staying and growing in Connecticut, CEO David Hallal said in an interview last month New Haven, home to Yale, offers "a knowledge-based economy, easy access to Amtrak and other mass-transit systems, and a vibrant community for Alexion employees."

Alexion was founded in New Haven 24 years ago, and has been based in Cheshire for the past 19 years.
