One Medical, a membership-based primary health care provider with digital and in-office services, has opened its first Connecticut office in Darien.

Earlier this year, San Francisco-based One Medical announced that it was entering the Connecticut market through an exclusive partnership with Hartford HealthCare, the second-largest health care system in the state.

One Medical’s new office is at Darien Commons, 104 Heights Road, R103. Later this summer, the company plans to open another location in New Canaan. More Connecticut offices are planned.

One Medical offers same- and next-day office visits, along with 24/7 virtual care via its mobile and web apps.

In addition to primary care, the new office provides full lab services, chronic illness management and mental health support.

Consumers can purchase a One Medical subscription via Amazon.com or OneMedical.com. Also, some employers offer a membership to their employees as a benefit. Memberships cost $199 per year.

Financial terms of the Hartford HealthCare partnership weren’t disclosed. According to online news website Axios, hospitals pay fixed sums to One Medical, which, in return, refers patients in need of more intensive care to its health system partners.

“This exciting collaboration with One Medical offers quick and convenient access to primary care, with a seamless connection to specialty care when needed, for patients in Fairfield County,” said Karen Goyette, Hartford HealthCare’s executive vice president and chief strategy and transformation.

In February, One Medical made national headlines after being acquired by e-commerce giant Amazon for $3.9 billion.

One Medical operates more than 200 locations across more than 20 U.S. markets, with plans to expand.
