Amazon announced that it will hire about 5,000 employees in Connecticut this winter, as part of a hiring blitz to meet higher demand during the gift-giving holiday season.
The positions include full-time, seasonal and part-time roles, including packing, sorting and shipping.
The pay is $17 to $28 per hour, depending on position and location in the U.S.
Amazon said it has increased its average pay to more than $20.50 per hour in customer fulfillment and transportation roles.
Throughout the United States, Amazon plans to hire 250,000 employees for the holiday season. Seasonal employees may transition to full-time positions, according to the announcement
Amazon said it debuted several new employee benefits this year, including an emergency savings program and a financial assistance pilot.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than $7.2 billion in Connecticut, including infrastructure and compensation to employees, and has created more than 15,000 direct jobs, according to the announcement.
“Amazon continues to be a great partner, investor and job creator in our state, as this new data clearly demonstrates,” Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development Alexandra Daum said. “Their commitment to Connecticut is clear and the positive ripple effects of their large-scale investments here will be felt for decades to come.”
