A new eatery specializing in American comfort food, The Shed Restaurant, opened at Mohegan Sun’s Casino of the Earth on Wednesday.
The Shed was founded in 2017 by John Tunney and John Rieger, who are also known for Ballo Italian Restaurant, which opened at Mohegan Sun about 15 years ago.
“We’ve wanted to build a second restaurant for a long time, and we’re happy that day is finally here,” Tunney said.
Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun, said the casino has been working to grow its non-gaming business, including creating “immersive dining experiences,” such as The Shed.
The restaurant’s ambiance is described as “rustic beach-chic,” with textured wood, colorful decor and art.
The Shed employs about 100 people and the culinary team is led by Chef Roberto Baez.
The menu includes specialty brunch, lunch and dinner items, which are available all day. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available, and many dishes can be turned into vegan offerings.
The Shed is located across from Frank Pepe Pizzeria, in an 8,785-square-foot space. It has seating for 205 guests, including 11 seats at a full bar.
Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons can join a text-based waitlist at the door.
The Shed, founded in 2017, has sister restaurants in New York, located in Huntington, West Sayville, Plainview and Westbury.
