Amphenol offers $1.28B for Singapore interconnect manufacturer

Wallingford’s Amphenol Corp. said it has made a binding $1.28 billion offer to acquire a Singapore manufacturer of interconnect technology.

Amphenol said the deal with FCI Asia Pte Ltd., which would be its largest to date, would bring more technological capabilities and product offerings involving high-speed, input-output, power and miniaturized interconnect products.

The deal, expected to close late this year, would boost Amphenol’s earnings per share in the first year, the company said. It would fund the purchase with cash and debt.

Regulators and some of FCI’s worker councils still must approve the deal, the companies said.

Owned by affiliates of Bain Capital, FCI has 7,400 employees worldwide and expects 2015 sales of approximately $600 million. Amphenol had 59,700 employees in 2014 and $5.35 billion in net sales.

Amphenol acquired Bridgeport’s Casco Automotive Group last year for $450 million.

In 2013, it bought General Electric’s advanced sensors business unit for $318 million.
