More Information

Amy Sailor provides strategic leadership in advancing the values of diversity, equity and inclusion within and through the work of the Connecticut Science Center.

She also stewards the Women in Science committee, whose current members represent companies including Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense, Sikorsky, Eversource Energy and ABB.

Sailor’s career as a museum professional has aided numerous cultural institutions in their understanding of and engagement with non-traditional audiences.

Sailor is an alum of both the University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State University. She is a graduate alum of Bank Street College of Education in New York City, where she earned her master’s degree in education, with a focus on museum leadership.

What have been your biggest professional accomplishments?

My biggest accomplishments include spearheading the Connecticut Science Center’s access membership program, which enables equity of access and parity of experience in the learning and enjoyment of science to families with low income.

What’s the next big goal you want to accomplish professionally?

As a change agent, I would like to continue shaping the culture of my still young institution. I wish to continue working to widen the workforce development pipeline by engaging and advancing girls and women in their pursuit of STEM as practitioners, teachers and learners.

What’s one of the biggest professional challenges you’ve overcome?

Getting comfortable with the fact that not everyone is going to like me, and the realization that it’s not necessary to get the work done.

How are you involved in the community?

I currently serve on the board of the Keney Park Sustainability Project, whose mission is to assist families through training and outreach, to become more self-sustainable and environmentally conscious.
