Artizan Biosciences has inked a lease to occupy 10,000 square feet of Class A laboratory and office space at Winchester Works in New Haven.
The lease’s term is for seven years, with a provision for expansion at five years.
The New Haven-based biotechnology company is focused on therapeutics that disrupt triggers of chronic inflammatory disease. The company aims to help patients with certain cancers and gastrointestinal, metabolic, autoimmune, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Artizan anticipates that its lead product candidate for inflammatory bowel disease will be in the clinic by 2023.
Artizan’s President and CEO, Dr. Bridget Martell, said in an announcement that moving to Winchester Works will allow the company to accelerate its research as it continues to grow its staff and expand its clinical efforts.
“We’re excited to remain in the burgeoning life sciences community of New Haven and close to the company’s beginnings at Yale University,” Martell said.
Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Winchester Works is a technology and life sciences building anchored by New Haven’s Science Park and across the street from Yale’s Science Hill.
Winchester Office LLC comprises LMXD (an affiliated company of L+M Development Partners), Twining Properties, and the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group.
Jake Pine, senior director at LMXD, said companies like Artizan “play a critical role in advancing life-changing research and development, and Winchester Works has been specifically designed to support these needs.”
Artizan is currently located at 25 Science Park in New Haven.
Winchester Works, at 115 Munson St., New Haven, has approximately 130,000 square feet of space. Winchester Office LLC bought the property in late 2019 and reimagined it with life sciences tenants in mind. Earlier this month, Winchester Office LLC announced its plans to lease three new, ready-to-use lab and office suites there.
