The Hartford Yard Goats, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, will debut their 2024 season on April 19 at Dunkin’ Park.
The opening night matchup, against the Bowie (Maryland) Baysox, starts at 7:10 p.m.
Individual game tickets go on sale for all home games on Friday at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at yardgoatsbaseball.com or by calling 860-246-4628.
Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the Click-It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin' Park, 1214 Main St.
This year’s home-game lineup includes new events and promotions, along with the return of annual favorites.
There will be fireworks after every Saturday night game, plus fireworks at home games three nights in a row from July 4 to July 6 to celebrate Independence Day.
This season’s giveaways include a Yard Goats-branded chocolate bar on opening night, and other memorabilia throughout the season, including a vintage bowling shirt, basketball jersey, football jersey and Hawaiian shirt. Giveaways will be handed out to fans 16 and older.
A Yard Goats neon hat will be given out on ’90’s Night, scheduled for Aug. 28. Other giveaways include a Bouncing Pickles bobblehead, Chompers hat, Yard Goats scarf and Roberto Clemente knit hat.
The seventh annual Whalers Alumni Weekend is scheduled for July 26 and July 27 and will feature former Hartford Whalers players. The Yard Goats will wear hockey-style uniforms.
There will be a Whalers luncheon, on-field pregame ceremony and autograph session, along with video highlights shown on the video board.
Through a partnership with Marvel Entertainment, the Yard Goats will wear special edition Marvel Super Hero-branded jerseys on May 29. There will be Marvel-themed activities and promotions during the game, along with an appearance by HULK.
Also returning this year is the Kids Run the Bases activity at all Sunday games. Baseball Bingo will be at every Tuesday game.
New this year is Artificial Intelligence Night, on June 26, when technology will determine scoreboard graphics and promotions on the field.
Margaritaville Night is set for Sept. 4 and will include a Jimmy Buffet cover band.
April 13 is Bark in the Park night, when fans can purchase a ticket and bring their dog to the game. Star Wars Night is May 15, with a chance to meet Star Wars characters.
The Yard Goats will honor different heritages, including Irish Night on April 26, featuring Irish music, step dancers and performers; Italian Night on Aug. 14, with Italian food, music and dancers; and five celebrations of Hispanic culture, in which the Yard Goats play as Los Chivos de Hartford, on April 23, April 27, May 16, June 27 and July 13.
Los Chivos de Hartford translates from Spanish to the Goats of Hartford.
The Yard Goats will once again host a Celebration of Negro League Baseball on June 29, playing as the Hartford Schoolboys, honoring Johnny “Schoolboy” Taylor, the first Black athlete to play professional baseball in Hartford.
In addition, the Yard Goats will raise money for various causes, including Deaf Awareness Night (May 30), Military Appreciation Night (June 15), Pink Out the Park (July 24), First Responders Night (July 25), Strike Out Cancer in a Cape (Aug. 16), Home Run for Heroes (Aug. 18), Organized Labor Night (Aug. 31) and Junior Fire Marshal Night (Sept. 7).
