One of the largest brewers of non-alcoholic beers will be hosting outdoor “pop-up taproom” experiences at its Milford brewery this summer.
The Athletic Brewing Co. gained a special permit from the Milford Planning and Zoning Commission in early May to use space on its 75 Cascade Blvd. property for a “pop-up” style outdoor retail shop in a “beer garden” type space.
“Taking place on our patio one weekend per month, we will have flagship brews and a selection of our current online offerings available both to enjoy on-site and to-go, along with limited selections on draft,” the Athletic website said.
The events are planned around new brew releases throughout the summer, and are intended to function as a “pop-up taproom” with revolving customers throughout the weekend rather than a more traditional single event with condensed, or larger attendance, the application to the Planning and Zoning Commission said. The board approved the request at its May 7 meeting, and the first event was held last weekend.
Other weekend events are slated for June 7-9, July 12-14, Aug. 9-11, and Sept. 13-15, on Fridays from 4-7 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 p.m.
The Athletic Brewing events will offer canned non-alcoholic beers to-go or to drink on-site in a family-friendly environment with outdoor seating and table games, with possible food truck vendors on-site, the application said.
There will be no alcoholic beverages served, no on-premises food service except for licensed food truck vendors, no live bands or loudspeakers, no large attractions or activities, and there are no ticket sales or paid admissions.
