Avangrid names new CFO

Orange-based utility company Avangrid Inc. recently appointed Patricia Cosgel as its new chief financial officer.

Cosgel will oversee treasury, control and administration, investor relations, risk and tax functions. She will report directly to CEO Pedro Azagra.

“Patricia has extensive financial and investor experience in the energy industry that will be an important asset to our team,” Azagra said, in an announcement. “I expect her leadership to continue driving our financial strength as a leading sustainable energy company in the U.S.”

Cosgel has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry. She joined Avangrid in 2015, and she has served as its interim CFO since February.

New EVP, CFO appointed for Sachem Capital Corp.

Sachem Capital Corp., based in Branford, announced this week it has appointed John E. Warch as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Warch, who is a certified public accountant, starts on Aug. 1.

The company focuses on originating, underwriting, funding, servicing and managing a portfolio of first mortgage loans.

John Villano, who previously served in a dual role as CEO and CFO, will continue as CEO.

Warch has more than 40 years of corporate finance and accounting experience. Prior to joining Sachem, he worked at companies such as Four Springs Capital Trust, David Landau & Associates LLC, and CapLease Inc.

Villano said of Warch’s selection,”We look forward to benefiting from his extensive experience in all aspects of corporate finance and reporting, having served more than 20 years within the (real estate investment trust) industry.”
