Avelo Airlines partners with UConn Athletics on promotions

Avelo Airlines, which has its East Coast base at New Haven’s Tweed airport, signed on as a sponsor of the University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball, hockey and baseball teams, the company announced Wednesday.

The deal will provide the airline with “premium asset placement” at UConn games with digital graphics, promotional contests, signage and PA announcements. UConn and Avelo will also partner on promotional events through the 2021-2022 athletic season.

UConn Athletic Director David Benedict said, “We are thrilled to partner with an airline that has decided to invest in our great state… I look forward to a long and impactful partnership with Avelo.”

Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We look forward to cheering on the Huskies as we continue building awareness for the convenient and affordable air travel Avelo brings to the region.”

Earlier this month Avelo launched its first flights to Sarasota, the last of its announced six planned destinations in Florida.
