Aetna veteran Brian M. Baczyk has been named chief data officer at Conning Inc.
In his new role, Baczyk will spearhead data governance for Conning and have oversight for data management initiatives across the company’s investment centers in the US, Europe and Asia.
He will be based in Conning’s Hartford headquarters.
Baczyk brings broad experience in buy-side investment management across a wide spectrum of asset classes, including hedging and quantitative asset allocation models, and the implementation of risk management frameworks.
He joins Conning after more than 19 years as an institutional investing consultant for leading institutional investors and clients including AIG, Vanguard, Aetna, Inc. and MassMutual. He previously served as investment officer-quantitative research at Aetna. He also was manager-equity investment systems at Aetna.
Conning is an investment management company for the global insurance industry, with more than $86 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
The firm is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
