Bank of America closes CT branch

100 Federal Road, Brookfield.

Bank of America has notified a federal regulator that it has closed a branch in Brookfield.

The banking giant said it closed its branch at 100 Federal Road in late March, according to a notification with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

The branch held $148.7 million in deposits as of June 30, 2024, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data. It was the bank’s only branch in Brookfield, records show.

Bank of America holds the most deposits ($37.6 billion) in Connecticut and had 87 branches in the state as of June 30, 2024. That was down from 89 branches a year earlier, FDIC data shows.

Banks across Connecticut and the country have been trimming their branch footprints in recent years as more consumers use online banking services and as a way to cut costs.

Banks in Connecticut had 944 branches in the state as of June 30, 2024, down from 975 a year earlier, a decline of 3.2%.
