Bauer designs and manufactures aircraft component test equipment for airlines, overhaul shops, OEMs and the military worldwide.
Tell us a bit about your recent accomplishments.
In November 2021, Bauer broke ground on a 30,000-square-foot building addition, which will provide the capacity to grow our business to $50 million in sales over the next three years. The addition includes a significant investment in new fabrication equipment (laser, press brake and a new CNC mill). We are also investing in green energy with solar panels and EV chargers. Bauer was recently awarded multimillion-dollar contracts with Eaton, Collins, the U.S. Air Force, Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa and several overhaul facilities in Miami.
How has your company shifted its strategy during the pandemic?
Bauer had a solid backlog with military orders at the start of the pandemic and that book of business has further increased. We employed a digital strategy during the pandemic when in-person meetings were not possible. Factory acceptance demonstrations were conducted virtually using videoconferencing.
What are your family values and how do they contribute to your business success?
Our company holds the following three values for the past 75 years: Integrity, take care of your customer and know your product technically.
Where do you see your business in the next five years?
As we grow to a $50 million-per-year business, aircraft test equipment will continue to be our core product. Other areas of growth include: component overhaul and repair, increased standard product business and contract manufacturing (fabrication, assembly and some design).
How do you plan to keep your business going even after your current top executive retires?
Bauer has spent the past three years developing a comprehensive succession plan. Our third generation is now actively involved in the operations of the company.
What are your guiding business principles?
Bauer is committed to provide the highest quality test equipment to the worldwide aerospace industry. Our loyal customers trust us and rely on our engineering expertise and dependable performance.
