ParMed, a Berlin-based manufacturing company, has been acquired by Schivo, an Ireland-based company that manufactures medical and life sciences devices.
Terms of the deal, which was announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.
ParMed, based at 600 Four Rod Road, Building 3, in Berlin, specializes in manufacturing fluid handling systems that include intelligent electronic rotary valves, layered manifolds and pumps.
According to ParMed founder and CEO Chris Parzych, his company employs 10 people who will all remain with the company. He added that in addition to continuing to run ParMed, he will join Schivo’s executive team as chief technology officer.
Parzych said he made the decision to sell to Schivo to broaden ParMed’s scope.
“The biggest reason is growth,” he said. “Trying to penetrate the market as a smaller company, it’s very difficult (to) support larger quantities of orders. We now have the backing of this larger entity, and Schivo is not afraid to invest in equipment and people.”
