Mark Bertolini, chairman and CEO of Hartford health insurer Aetna, saw his 2014 compensation fall by more than half in 2014, according to a U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission filing.
Bertolini’s official compensation total last year was $15.1 million, compared to $30.7 million in 2013.
The main difference was lower stock and options awards during the year, which will vest in the future.
The compensation totals do not include the value Bertolini received during the year from the vesting of stock shares. Bertolini realized $11.9 million in value from previously awarded shares that vested in 2014, up from $5.6 million from option and stock awards in 2013.
