Best Places to Work 2023: 16. United Way of Connecticut

Since 1974, the United Way of Connecticut has been helping people find and access health and human services, including food, shelter and other basic necessities. The nonprofit also responds to weather emergencies, national disasters and personal crises.

Employee Benefits: Pays 87% of medical and 88% of dental benefits for employees and, correspondingly, 76% and 78% for dependents. Gives employees eight hours of personal time off to volunteer at charities of their choice and four hours of personal time during the employee’s birthday month.
