Supermarket chain Big Y Foods Inc. announced this week it plans to open two new Big Y Express Fuel and Convenience store locations in Connecticut, in Somers and Enfield.
The stores are scheduled to open July 15 at 580 Main St. in Somers, and at 241 Hazard Ave. in Enfield.
The two new stores will bring the total in Connecticut to six. The chain recently opened an Express location at 150 Boston Post Rd. in Milford. It also has Express stores in Manchester, Ellington and Stafford Springs.
“We are excited to not only help our customers save on their fueling needs, but also make life easier by offering quick convenience items that our customers can grab on the run,” said
Big Y President and CEO Charles L. D’Amour, in an announcement.
The new Big Y Express locations will each feature eight fuel pumping stations and a free air machine for inflating tires. Customers who are myBigY members are eligible for fuel discounts.
The stores also will sell an array of convenience store merchandise, from fresh coffee to grab-and-go items such as milk, cold drinks and snacks.
The Springfield, Mass.-based company is now hiring for both management and part-time roles at the new stores. It opened its first Big Y Express store in Lee, Mass. in 2013.
