Bio-Techne opens new manufacturing facility in Wallingford

Biotech company Bio-Techne has opened a new 52,000-square-foot production and manufacturing facility in Wallingford, doubling the size of its existing facility.
The expansion increases the company’s production capacity for its immunoassay cartridge to 500,000 per year – five times the current level.
The cartridges are for the Ella Automated Immunoassay System, which allows researchers to measure molecules in blood and other biological materials.
Biomarkers are distinctive biological characteristics that can be discovered and measured in parts of the body like the blood, serum or tissue. They may be a sign of normal or diseased processes in the body.
Ella Automated Immunoassay System is manufactured by ProteinSimple, a brand of Minneapolis-based Bio-Techne.
The new facility, at 5 Technology Drive, is fully operational, the company said in an announcement Tuesday.
The expansion, which includes a new laboratory, manufacturing and 9,500-square-foot cleanroom space, enables Bio-Techne to meet growing global demand for biomarker analysis, the company said.
