BioCT names Jodie Gillon as president and CEO

Jodie Gillon

BioCT, a statewide bioscience industry group, has named Jodie Gillon as its new president and CEO.

Gillon will replace Dawn Hocevar, who retired last week after more than five years in the position, starting May 8.

Gillon most recently was the senior vice president of corporate affairs and patient advocacy at Peptilogics, a clinical-stage biopharma company in Pittsburgh.

She also served as the chief patient officer and head of clinical affairs at Abeona Therapeutics, a cell and gene therapy company, and spent more than 10 years at Pfizer. Before that, she held senior positions at Achillion Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, Novartis and Oridion Medical.

Gillon has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceuticals and biotech, but started her career in advocacy and government.

She has a master’s degree in public health with a dual degree in health management and economics, and epidemiology, from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University.

Gillon, who lives in Westport, said she fell in love with New Haven in 2016 while working at Achillion Pharmaceuticals.

“It is a great privilege to help expand the biotech ecosystem in the state I now proudly call my permanent home,” Gillon said.

BioCT, which is based in New Haven, advocates for the bioscience industry, working to promote growth in the life sciences with the goal of improving human health.
