If you’ve ever dreamed of opening your own food business, a New Haven-based startup program can help.
The Food Business Accelerator (FBA) by CitySeed and Collab is seeking food entrepreneurs who have recently launched or are working toward launching a food business (i.e. food truck, catering company or food product line) to apply for its 2023 program.
FBA is a statewide accelerator for Connecticut early-stage food entrepreneurs. The program aims to remove barriers to food entrepreneurship across the state through training, network-building and access to resources, with a focus on increasing leadership roles among people of color and immigrant food entrepreneurs.
The deadline to apply for 2023 classes, which begin in January, is November 20. More information about the program can be found online HERE.
Anyone with questions should email cara.santino@cityseed.org.
And to get a taste of what food entrepreneurship is like, FBA’s latest class of local chefs will showcase their culinary creations from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Q-House Farmers Market, located at 197 Dixwell Ave., New Haven.
The event is free and open to the public and will highlight FBA’s recent program graduates.
The featured food vendors include Je T'aime Cupcakes, Chef Sil's Vegan Kitchen, Momma Kiss Kitchen, EatUp Lemonade, KdCrop Farms, Alegría Café and Oh Shito! (a Ghanian hot sauce made from the shito pepper). The vendors will offer free tastings, as well have items available for purchase.
The event will take place during CitySeed’s weekly Q-House Farmers Market, which runs every Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. through Oct. 26.
