Workers in the Greater Hartford area earned hourly wages 17% higher than the national average in May 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
BLS data from May of last year show Greater Hartford workers earned an average of $31.61 per hour, compared with the national average of $27.07. Employment in the area was highly concentrated in management, financial operations and education.
"Wages in the Hartford area were significantly higher than their respective national averages," BLS' report said.
The data also show Greater Hartford employees include more than 46,000 people in management. These workers earn an average hourly wage of $67.10, compared with the national average of $60.81 per hour for managers.
The region had significantly fewer workers than national averages in sectors including transportation and material moving, food preparation and serving, and sales professions, according to BLS.
