A Branford tech/bioscience company, Core Informatics, is being acquired by Waltham, Mass.-based Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Core Informatics provides a cloud-based software that supports scientific data management.

Thomas Loewald, senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Thermo Fisher Scientific, said Core Informatics will be combined with Thermo Fisher’s existing informatics capabilities and complement its digital standards in a cloud platform, which supports the company’s genetic analysis and systems for analyzing proteins.

“The scientific community is rapidly adopting cloud-based laboratory and scientific data management capabilities,” Loewald said, noting that is part of his company’s strategy as well.

Core Informatics partners with customers in biopharma, genomics, and other industries to deliver lab informatics to analyze scientific data.

“The Core Informatics business and its approximately 100 employees will remain and grow in Branford,” said Karen A. Kirkwood, vice president of corporate communications for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Core Informatics has been recognized as a growing tech company in Connecticut being named to Hartford Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” list and a Marcum Tech Top 40 company.
