What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?

My biggest professional accomplishment has been expanding the grant portfolio at the Connecticut Health Foundation to include more community-based organizations working to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities. I added 10 new community-focused grantees to the foundation’s portfolio using a relationship-centered approach to grantmaking.

How are you involved in the community?

I serve as chair of the East Hartford Alumni Association and Education Foundation, dedicated to helping local students thrive through mentoring, networking, and college scholarships. I also volunteer as a basketball coach with East Hartford Parks & Recreation, working with girls ages 7 to 9.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love reading and learning. Outside of work, I can be found at the bookstore, the library, or sitting outside with a book in my hands. When not reading, I’m happiest biking, swimming, hiking, or otherwise taking in fresh air with my family and friends.

What part of work life did you miss most during the pandemic?

During the pandemic, I have most missed the informal collaboration that comes from everyday interactions in the office. Whether it be a conversation in the hallway or a quick stop by someone’s office, informal discussions help build relationships within a team and create a better product.

Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty:

Founding member of the East Hartford Alumni Association and Education Foundation, dedicated to the students of East Hartford.

Co-chaired the diversity, inclusion, equity, and cultural humility committee at the Connecticut Health Foundation.

Deep-rooted commitment to equity in Connecticut.

Named to Fordham University’s 20 in their 20s in 2017 for work in service to people living with HIV.

Fun Fact

As a kid, I thought I would be an astronomer when I grew up!
