Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has been reelected to lead the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, organization officials announced Monday.

Bronin, who is midway through his second term as Hartford’s mayor, will hold the top position with CCM through 2022. The group, which represents the interests of member cities and towns through lobbying at the state legislature and other forums, elects its president at its annual convention for a term of one year.

“I’m grateful for the confidence of my colleagues around the state and honored to serve as president of CCM for another year,” Bronin said in a statement. “We’re at a critical moment in our recovery, and it’s critical that we continue to build a strong partnership between state and local government and ensure that our cities and towns are working hand in hand on issues that affect our local communities.”

CCM Executive Director and CEO Joe DeLong praised Bronin for his work on behalf of the organization so far and said the Hartford mayor would help advance policies in the areas of revenue diversification, service-sharing, climate initiatives and economic development, among other priorities.

“2022 will represent another crucial crossroads in the relationship between Connecticut local governments and its state leaders,” DeLong said. “CCM is very fortunate to have such an experienced mayor to lead our 168 member communities in 2022. He is well-respected on both sides of the political aisle at both the state and local levels and will play a key role in forging consensus on important state-local issues during the 2022 General Assembly session.”
