Buckley Broadcasting sells Hartford-area radio stations

Buckley Broadcasting has sold its five Hartford-area radio stations, including 102.9 WDRC FM and AM, to Connoisseur Media, the two announced.

Known for its oldies programming, WDRC FM will have a classic hits format under Connoisseur.

“The Hartford market has a hole for a Classic Hits based radio station, and the new sound of 102.9 will fill it,” Keith Dakin, Connoisseur’s regional operations manager, said in a statement.

The sale, which required Federal Communications Commission approval, was first announced in March.

The Hartford Courant reported Monday evening that Connoisseur, which is based in Westport, had laid off hosts Mike Stevens, Ron Sedaille, Floyd Wright and Grahame Winters.

The sale also includes AM talk stations WWCO in Waterbury, WMMW in Meriden, and WSNG in Torrington.

Connoisseur lists 36 other station holdings in 10 states on its website, including four in Milford.
