Berlin-based Budney Aerospace & Overhaul said Friday it will invest $12 million and hire up to 60 additional workers over the next five years as part of a major expansion.
The nearly 200-employee aerospace company, which manufactures and repairs jet-engine components, has purchased 10 acres at 2061 Berlin Turnpike -- former site of a driving range -- where it will erect a 60,000-square-foot facility that will house cutting-edge machining equipment and automation for aerospace components.
Budney, whose clients include GE-Aviation, Honeywell, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney, will also build a solar farm on the site to power the new plant, the company said.
The addition will complement Budney’s current facility at 131 New Park Drive, where the company added a 10,000-square-foot addition last year, to create a high-tech aerospace campus, the company said.
"I am so very pleased that the 50-plus year tradition of the Budney family will continue with yet another expansion -- this time into a new building -- providing new jobs and opportunity right here in Berlin," said town Mayor Mark Kaczynski.
Congratulations to Budney Aerospace. A top-notch manufacturer. Wishing you the best in the future.
