Private equity-backed roofing retailer Metro Roofing Supplies is expanding to Windsor, where it has just signed a lease for what will be its fifth Connecticut location.
Metro Roofing has leased a 50,000-square-foot warehouse at 60 Baker Hollow Road, Windsor Economic Development Director Jim Burke confirmed Friday.
The company, which sells commercial and residential roofing materials, as well as gutters, decking, siding and other products, has locations in North Haven, Waterbury, Danbury and Stamford.
Metro Roofing received local approval last month to store materials in a fenced area outside the warehouse.
"We chose Windsor due to the location's proximity to major interstates and the town's acceptance with open arms for us to operate," Metro Roofing's North Haven and Windsor branch director, Darek Dabkowski, said in an email to HBJ on Friday.
Metro has been in business for nearly 50 years. It was acquired in 2016 by Texas-based SRS Distribution, a roofing distribution holding company with numerous brands located across much of the country.
SRS is backed by private equity firms Leonard Green & Partners and Berkshire Partners.
In the Northeast, SRS’ other brands include Heritage Wholesalers, National Building & Roofing Supplies, National Building Supply, Kohl Building Products, and Superior Distribution.
