Burke named president of St. Francis Hospital

Thomas Burke

St. Francis Hospital named Thomas Burke as its new president on Friday. Burke has been serving as interim president since May after joining the Hartford hospital in 2016.

“Tom stepped into the role as interim president during the pandemic and at a time of great challenge and transition within our organization,” said Reginald Eadie, president and CEO of the hospital’s parent company, Trinity Health Of New England. “He rose to the occasion and proved his ability to lead with enthusiasm and with the utmost respect for every one of our colleagues and members of our medical staff.”

“My time as interim president during this unprecedented time has given me a unique opportunity to grow as a leader. I look forward to serving in this role and supporting all our Saint Francis colleagues as we continue to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond,” Burke said.

Burke, who holds BPharm and MBA degrees, was chosen after a national search.

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center was established in Hartford in 1897 and in 2015 was acquired by Trinity Health Of New England, a large Catholic healthcare system.
