Cannabis business overcomes city objections to open Stamford dispensary

A cannabis dispensary business with a location in West Hartford has opened a second Connecticut storefront in Stamford, after a battle with city regulators.

Sweetspot Farms sued the city’s zoning board in 2023 after its application was denied. Board members had cited concerns over a potential increase in traffic and proximity to schools.

The board settled with the company later that year and passed the application. The location has now opened at a storefront on High Ridge Road.

Sweetspot is owned by two Stamford natives, CEO Jason Webski and business development officer Ben Herbst.

“For Jason and me, bringing our cannabis business back to the town we grew up in means everything. This is more than just opening a store—it's about giving back to the community that shaped us,” Herbst said in a statement. “From the beginning, we were determined not to back down, knowing how important it was to make this dream a reality.”

Both the Stamford and West Hartford locations are hybrid medical and recreational dispensaries.

Sweetspot also has locations in Maryland, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Vermont.
