The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford announced that its longtime CEO Samuel Gray will be leaving to join the national organization.
In September, he will begin a new role for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, as the regional vice president of field services for the Northeast region.
Gray, who spent 23 years with Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, will remain with the Hartford organization through August while a successor is found. The board of trustees said it will work with a search consultant to identify the nonprofit’s next CEO.
“Today is a bittersweet day for BCGH,” said Ping Hsieh, executive chairman of the board of trustees. “Sam has skillfully guided the organization through tremendous growth and stability for nearly a quarter century while steadfastly and passionately focusing on our mission to enable young people to realize their potential as caring, productive, and responsible citizens. BGCH and the city of Hartford will miss his presence. We congratulate Sam on his new role within the national organization. The northeast region and BGCH will continue to benefit from his vast knowledge and insights.”
In fiscal year 2023, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford reported that it had 153 employees and $7.27 million in revenue, according to its 990 tax filing. It reported a $579,704 deficit and $44.2 million in total assets in fiscal 2023, according to the tax filing.
