For Farmington manufacturer Burke Aerospace, strategic leadership and planning are cornerstones to improving professional performance and quality of life.

That philosophy is the basis of the Burke Aerospace Wellness Program, which encourages employees to assess their readiness to change, collaborate on goal-setting and build relationships to improve overall health.

“If we help our people become the best human beings they can be, our company will reach heights we never could have imagined,” CEO and President Tyler Burke said.

A triathlon team formed by the company this year is the newest opportunity for workers to demonstrate they’re willing to expand their mindset beyond what they thought was possible. Employees committed to the team via a mobile fitness app are provided coaching support, equipment and paid travel expenses as they take part in local and national triathlon events.

Rewarding employees for their commitments to companywide goals, officials say, is likely why 25% of its workforce has stayed with the manufacturer for more than 15 years.
