A competition for up and coming Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in Connecticut will take place next month.
The Noire Expose, presented by the Black Business Alliance of Connecticut, is happening on Feb. 4 at 99 Founders Place, 4th floor, East Hartford.
It’s an opportunity to pitch business ideas to potential investors, customers or partners.
The first-place winner will take home $35,000, followed by $25,000 for the 2nd place winner; $15,000 for the 3rd place winner and $2,500 for each of the 10 finalists.
This is the inaugural launch of The Noire Expose, which organizers are dubbing as “a pitch competition focused on Connecticut-registered, 51% Black-owned and board-controlled businesses, who have or are building a technology-enhanced business model.”
The pitch awards are geared toward finding new and upcoming businesses at the inspiration stage in an effort to spur economic growth in Connecticut.
The competition is also an opportunity for Black-owned start-ups to develop their projects and further engage in potential strategic investment, according to event organizers.
“BBA believes that as we go through times of change, we must find new ways of supporting entrepreneurial values that enable a more resilient future,” said Ira Revels, advisor for Noire Expose. “We believe that investing in innovative and future-driven Black entrepreneurs at the inspiration stage will positively impact the growth of the Connecticut economy.”
Applications for the pitch competition must be received by Jan. 10, and can be filled out by visiting Noire Expose online at www.noireexpose.com.
Guidelines for applicants to present their business ideas can be found on the website.
