ConnectiCare names new president

Mark Meador

Farmington health insurer ConnectiCare has a new leader. 

The company, owned by New York-based EmblemHealth, announced that Mark Meador is its next president.

Meador will oversee the health plan’s business in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He succeeds Roberta Wachtelhausen, who has served as interim president since November 2022.

As part of the leadership transition, Wachtelhausen will retire from ConnectiCare. However, she will continue to serve on the board and act as an advisor to ConnectiCare subsidiary WellSpark, a corporate wellness program provider she founded. 

Meador has been with ConnectiCare since 2019, serving as the company’s general counsel. Before that, he spent over 20 years with Aetna in various executive positions. 

Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions with other insurance carriers, including Prudential, and worked for a private law firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
