Connecticut Black Expo returns to New Haven after 9 years

A showcase of Black-owned businesses is set to return to New Haven this fall after a nine-year hiatus.

The Connecticut Black Expo, an event that showcases Black businesses along with performances by artists and musicians, is scheduled to take place Oct. 29-30 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center at 480 Sherman Parkway.

This year’s theme will be “Action Driving Black Excellence,” according to a news release.

Connecticut Black Expo 2022 CEO Torrance Flowers said, “The CT Black Expo is needed now more than ever. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic amplified inequities plaguing the Black community – insurmountable racial, health, economic and social injustices. We’ve remained resilient, and now it’s time to show off.”

The first Black Expo in New Haven was launched in 1972 and took place at the New Haven Armory; the most recent was in 2013 at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Sponsorships and vendor booths are available for the 2022 Connecticut Black Expo at the event’s website, thectblackexpo.com.
