Two Connecticut manufacturers on Thursday received more than $130 million in government contracts for work they’re doing for the Army and Navy, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

RTX’s Pratt and Whitney, based in East Hartford, was awarded an $81.4 million incentive and cost reimbursable modification to a previously awarded contract for work related to the Air Force’s F135 propulsion system spares. The contract modification includes conventional takeoff and landing spare engines, power modules, gearboxes, fan modules and nozzle modules for the F-35 Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.

In March, Pratt & Whitney was awarded a $5.2-billion contract to support production of the 15th and 16th lots of F135 engines. The contract includes an option to award a 17th Lot, powering all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft, company officials said at the time, increasing the contract’s potential value to $8 billion.

Meanwhile, West Hartford-based Triumph Engine Control Systems LLC was awarded a $49.2 million contract for CH-47 Chinook main fuel control overhauls and upgrades for the U.S. Army.

Work related to the Pratt & Whitney contract is expected to be completed in October 2025, while Triumph Engine Control Systems’s contract is expected to be completed by July 31, 2028, according to the DOD.
