Construction of affordable units in Bridgeport’s Crescent Crossing project underway

Bridgeport officials kicked off the start of construction on the next phase of the Crescent Crossings development, a $40 million project that will bring another 85 units of mixed-income affordable housing to the city.

The project is transforming the former Father Panik Village site on the city’s East Side, and is the result of a public-private partnership between Park City Communities and the JHM Group, city officials said.

Apartments will range from studios to three-bedroom units, with amenities such as a community lounge with a kitchenette, playground, laundry facilities, fitness center, and a business center with computers available for use. The project will take roughly 18 months to complete, development officials said, with occupancy expected by summer 2025.

Developer JHM has already completed 231 mixed-income units in Bridgeport, and this third phase of Crescent Crossings will bring that total to over 300.

Todd McClutchy of JHM said plans are in the works for another 115 units and other apartments in the Windward Commons development at the former Marina Village site in the South End.
