Cooper named VP at CHA

Dr. Mary Reich Cooper

Mary Reich Cooper has joined the Connecticut Hospital Association in Wallingford as vice president and chief quality officer.

In this role, Dr. Cooper will lead CHA's quality and patient safety work, including CHA's initiative to eliminate all cause preventable harm in Connecticut. This statewide initiative includes the unique High Reliability Safety Culture Collaborative, the first of its kind in the nation, and Partnership for Patients, a national initiative designed to reduce preventable inpatient harm by 40 percent and readmissions by 20 percent.

Dr. Cooper previously served as senior vice president and chief quality officer for Lifespan in Providence. Before that, she was vice president and chief quality officer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Cooper began her career as a hospitalist at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, and later became director, clinical quality.

In addition to her medical training, she holds a law degree.
