Court gives CT docs until March 7 to appeal insurer cuts

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said Connecticut doctors affected by United Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage network cuts have until March 7 to challenge their removal in arbitration proceedings.

United Healthcare had asked the court to dismiss a preliminary injunction granted by a Connecticut judge in December, but the court instead upheld and modified it by inserting the deadline for members to challenge their dismissals.

After March 7, the preliminary injunction will expire, the appeals court said.

According to the medical associations, United told more than 2,200 doctors last year that they would be cut from the insurer’s Medicare Advantage network by Feb. 1
