More than 90,000 passengers are expected to travel in and out of Bradley International Airport this Thanksgiving season, according to state officials, and even more will be on roadways and railways in what’s lining up to be a record year.
AAA Northern New England released its annual Thanksgiving forecast this week, which projects 2.5 million people in New England will travel for the holiday, which would be a new Thanksgiving record and mark a 2.6% increase over last year.
Specifically, 2.15 million New Englanders are expected to travel by automobile; 330,000 by plane; and 42,000 by trains, buses, rails or cruise ships, according to AAA.
Meantime, at Bradley International Airport, the Connecticut Airport Authority expects more than 90,000 travelers will go through the facility between Nov. 17 and Nov. 26. The busiest days at the airport will be the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Saturday and Sunday after the holiday, according to the CAA.
Nationally, AAA projects 55.4 million travelers across the country will go 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, which marks a 2.3% increase over last year.
If the national projections hold, this year will be the third-highest Thanksgiving forecast since AAA began tracking holiday travel in 2000.
