CT gas prices up 14%

Connecticut gas prices are up more than 30 cents in the last week, mirroring a trend across the country that AAA attributes to Hurricane Harvey.

A gallon of regular gasoline was averaging 2.88 cents in Connecticut on Thursday, up from 2.53 cents a week ago, according to AAA data.

Nationally, gas is averaging $2.65, up 27 cents on the week. That’s a tie for the highest price in two years, AAA said.

More than half of U.S. states are paying at least 25 cents more per gallon this week.

Though Harvey is drying out, Category 5 Hurricane Irma is headed for South Florida after resulting in more than a dozen fatalities in the Caribbean, according to ABC News.
